Can you really make a difference at PKF BOFIDI?

Like many, I sometimes doubted the beautiful promises of an employer. Are those slogans and values ​​real, or do they remain beautiful words? In the meantime, I am proud to be part of PKF BOFIDI, and yes, here you can really make a difference. This is my story.

A hectic start

As a mother of four, my day started, as usual, with a hectic morning rush. Once I arrived at the office in Antwerp, a job interview with a potential new colleague was scheduled for 9 AM. Enthusiastic and well-prepared… or so I thought. Until I was shocked to realize that my laptop was still at home on my desk. A slight panic followed, but thanks to a colleague, the problem was quickly solved.
I was able to use one of the old laptops that were ready to be professionally destroyed. But that detail stuck with me: is it really necessary to just throw away all these laptops? Couldn’t we do something different?

From idea to action

The idea didn’t leave my mind, and I decided to sign up for one of our PKF BOFIDI Pitch sessions. Every employee can pitch ideas here – big or small, within or outside the box. Perfect for presenting my proposal.

My idea? Let employees buy old laptops and use the proceeds for PKF BOFIDI Charity. A sustainable and socially responsible alternative.
The proposal was well-received, and together with colleagues from IT and Charity, we worked out the details.

A sustainable solution: Out of Use

After some research, we found the perfect partner: Out of Use. This organization works with 13 social workshops and gives used IT equipment a second life.

• Laptops are thoroughly checked, professionally wiped, and refurbished.
• Then, they are sold at an affordable price through their platform Back in Use.

Not only do we prevent waste, but with every laptop sold, we support social employment, and PKF BOFIDI gets a share of the proceeds. A win-win-win!

What do we do with the proceeds?

Yes, there is extra profit, and yes, we love fun activities like ski trips, team weekends, and our monthly Friyays.
But the proceeds from this project are entirely donated to our PKF BOFIDI Charity foundation. In this way, we make an even greater impact on society and support causes that matter.

An idea with big consequences

What started as a small idea grew into a successful sustainable initiative.
And me? I’m proud that my idea was picked up and that I could make a difference.
