From March, 2025, stricter controls in the KBO: Is your registration up-to-date?

10/04/2025

From March 28, 2025, the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises (KBO) will adjust its systems to perform additional checks on the registered activities of establishment units. This means that your company must be correctly registered to avoid errors or problems.

Step-by-step plan: what do you need to do?

Check and update the activities of your establishment unit

Ensure that all economic activities you perform in or from your establishment unit are correctly registered before you start. Are there any changes along the way? Update the data:

  • Stop activities that are no longer performed;
  • Adjust the type of activity if a main activity becomes a secondary activity (or vice versa);
  • Correct any errors in the registration, such as an incorrect start date or a wrong NACEBEL code.

Register only activities that you actually perform

You may only register activities that your company is currently performing. Activities that you may want to start in the future do not belong in the KBO. Is there an activity registered that has never been performed? Have it deleted retroactively.

Support activities are no longer registered separately

From March 28, 2025, the KBO will only register economic activities. Support activities will no longer be recorded separately. The KBO will contact companies that currently have registered support activities. Depending on the situation, these activities will be deleted or converted into a main or secondary activity.

Each establishment unit must have at least one and may have a maximum of five main activities

Check if your company complies with this rule. If your establishment unit has registered too few or too many main activities, adjust your data to stay within the set limits.

How to adjust your data?

Do you want to make changes to the main and/or secondary activities of your company? Contact the business counter of your choice to make the necessary adjustments (such as stopping or changing activities). The business counter will make these adjustments free of charge, provided they are combined with another paid change, such as an address or contact details adjustment.

Are you a non-profit organization or a non-commercial private company? Then you can update your activities yourself via My Enterprise.

You can check your registered data online at any time via the My Enterprise application.

What are the consequences of incorrect registration in the KBO?

An incorrect or incomplete KBO registration of a company can lead to the inadmissibility of the claim of such a company in the context of a legal procedure. This means that the judge does not deal with the substance of the case (and therefore rejects the claim) because the company is not correctly registered for the activity in question. This argument has already been successfully applied in practice. Therefore, ensure correct registration to avoid risks.
